I call her Red

Random outfit of the night. I hope you recognized the Jordan Catalano, otherwise known as Jared Leto, quote, and if not that, I hope you at least vaguely registered one of the most memorable quotes from My So-Called Life, the epitome of 90's tv, significantly better than another show of that time period (except maybeee Friends), which if you haven't watched yet, you should, if not for the great show content, for the best "bad-boy" character ever, aka Jordan Catalano (was this the longest run-on sentence or what?).

Oh yeah, I also have red hair. Sorry I forgot to update you on it. It's really no big deal, just 11.99 at CVS and a now slightly pink bathroom sink.

Aruba?

{Goodwill shirt, Vintage jeans, Dr. Martens sandals}

Obviously this getup is pretty banal, but considering my general all-black uniform this abundance of white is quite a change. I am also thoroughly obsessed with this, although extremely unflattering, Budweiser-esque Aruba shirt.

Mass Moca

[Vintage top, DIY jeans, Nixon watch, Cobra Shop choker]

I was working in Williamstown, MA in my family's coffee shop this pack week. On my day off (July 4th), I went to the Mass Moca art museum with my sister. I saw many amazing art pieces- I can't really justify calling them full exhibits because it is a very small museum in general- most of which were those of Xu Bing. My favorite is a large tiger 'rug' made out of cigarettes.

Hearing the Dalai Lama.

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley! In my Presidency class we considered him as 2016 Presidential Candidate, so I fangirled a bit.
So yes, that is His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama giving a speech at the Sadat Lecture for Peace at the University of Maryland. (!!!!). My dad is an alum and, because he has made some donations to the university, got sent some tickets. (!!!)

The Dalai Lama was extraordinarily cheerful, described by my dad's old professor (who we visited after the speech) as another "jolly old man." He really was very merry, cracking jokes and constantly giggling to himself. The main thesis of his whole speech was that worldwide peace comes from inner peace, and that with inner peace comes tolerance and the realization that everybody is human and wants the same thing.
Some quotes that I managed to ferociously type on my iPhone notepad and novice video clips I filmed are below:

"Material value never provides mental comfort... constant fear"
"Trust is the key value of friendship, respect others and their sense of well being"
"Talk to you enemy. You both want peace."
"Violence is unpredictable, and despite good intentions, vioelnce is always unpredictavble, and because of the violent method it always produces unexpected consequences"

"we forget one-ness of humanity. that is the source of problem."
"global economy, glbal warming, national boundary, religious differences, no relevant. you must think about humanity....sacrifice [secondary differences] for oneness of humanity...
In order to prevent central peace, this century, this world should be demilitarized world [watch the last video]"

(if you are going to watch any of the videos.. I recommend the 3rd one!!)

Nasty gal top, Blue Valley jacket, BDG jeans, 1461 Dr. Martens

It's rather ironic how I have a fashion blog and just listened to a speech advising against against seeking short-lived comfort in material value....

Blossoming

shitty lighting.. sorry

Blue Valley jacket, American Apparel top, BDG jeans, Dr. Martens Clarissa sandal, Urban Outfitters sunnies

In the same way that my backyard flowers are blossoming, so is my anxiety about college. Spring is here! Which means, along with the freshly cut grass and humid air, SATs and finals. In a futile attempt to de-stress, I wore one of my favorite looks. I am in love with 90's style crop tops (especially turtleneck crop tops) and thought my white American Apparel one tied together my otherwise all-black outfit. I also finally broke in my Dr. Martens sandals! Horrah!

Central Square

Unif top, cobra snake necklaces, American Apparel disco pants, Dr. Martens Aggy Creepers

A few days after the tragedy of the Boston Marathon bombings, I went into Central Square, Boston and realized again how beautiful this city really is. I imagine Central Square to be somewhat parallel  to  Brooklyn, NY, but I have never been to the latter so I can't really compare. My point is that it is saturated with vintage shops (Boomerangs is my new favorite), record stores, hippy-vegan-restaurant types (Live Alive- the overcrowded, dare I say- possibly overrated- cafe where I got my apple, carrot, kale, celery, and wheatgrass juice), and impeccable street art. Anyway, this is my yin and yang blinged out outfit, enjoy.

Eagle Force

Vintage Jacket,  Urban Outfitters shirt, vintage jeans, Aggy Deyn creepers

I vaguely remember buying these jeans about a half decade ago, but recently I was digging through the basement in search of the featured pink jacket that I had tossed into Narnia and slightly shrieked with delight when I came across them. I have been searching for light acid wash jeans for ever, once I even bought a pair from H&M but came home to realize I had bought the wrong size (H&M sizing is so wierd- each time I buy jeans they are different sizes-- also the lines are excruciatingly long, and I rarely have the patience or time to wait).  This EAGLEFORCE jacket was my mother's. I was really inspired by this image and would have paired this look with a neon green beanie similar to hers, but I find my head is so big that I look unnatural in a beanie.

LONDON

White Chocoolate dress, DIY jacket, Dr. Martens 1461

Alright so doesn't this look just scream London? I mean, Alexa Chung pioneered white stripes, Doc Martens and denim vests?! By the way, I hope to take pictures outside of the confinement of my room soon, but I usually just get midnight urges to prance around in my outfits. Lastly, I just want to put out a reminder for anyone that is looking to buy this dress- don't. I think that it is pretty unflattering because the skirt part tapers out a bit, however, I do like the ankle cut.
