Real inspiration

I am slowly and slowly realizing how big of an influence, the 90s are to me.
When I say that there isn't enough room to express what I want to say, I truly mean it.
The very high neck and cap sleeve tops, the acid or light wash denim (or just denim in general),
the wasting-away Kate Moss body type, the bowler hats, the thick strapped black sandals,
the classic Americana logos (Adidas,Coke, Budweiser), the high waisted, the plaid,
the punk, the preppy;
from Clueless to Ferris Bueller to Girl, Interrupted, to Good Will Hunting,
it has all slowly seeped down into my perception of what is good
and what isn't good style.

Most of it is probably the whole, grass is greener on the other side, thing;
besides, the "90s" was only a decade before,
but it still feels like a distinct culture separate from ours today.

Here is a very minuscule portion of where I take inspiration:

Industrial

excuse the sloppy focus

Jacket: Ebay
Shirt: Jjill
Jeans: BDG c/o Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Dr Marten Aggy Creepers

Ahh, the smell of industrialized and packaged popular brand foods; the icon of overweight
America where we buy food in packs of ten where its origins are unrecognizable.
But cheap, fatty, goods are just so good.

This was a simple ootd, but I just love the industrial backdrop.

Tumbloves

They're legends in my book

1. Abbey Lee Kershaw
Australian model, who I thought was retired but recently is featured in a Janurary 2013 Hapar's Baazar spread. Some of my favorite campaigns of hers were for Versace and Gucci. She modeled for the Victora's Secret show once. Before dying her hair platinum blonde she was once a brunette. She calls her body a canvas for art, to which she would have covered in tattoos if she were not part of the modelling business. She is also a painter and has 10 piercings.

 2. Agyness Deyn-

Agyness Deyn is an English model and actress. She is a retired model. Her spread in May UK Vogue,
shot by one of my favorite photographers, Tim Walker, is absolutely beautiful (see below with the cheetahs).
She is currently focusing on acting. "Her hair has been blonde, red, brown and black during her modelling career. Although she usually sports short hair, she has been seen with a bob and a bowl cut." (Wikipedia). She had a highly publicized relationship with  Albert Hammond jr, a member of The Strokes, but surprised everyone with her marriage to actor Giovanni Ribsy. Her collab with Dr Martens (and campaign with Ash Stymest for First and Forever Dr. Martens) is absolutely stunning.

3. Liu Wen-
A very fresh face in the 2012 fashion scene, Liu Wen is an up and coming from China. When I first heard her talk in an interview I was stunned by her thick Chinese accent, simply because she fits into the European fashion scene so well. She has modelled for many campaigns, and was featured in the Victoria's Secret fashion show two times in a row. I think she looked stunning in her Zara campaign earlier this year. Like all my other muses, she has impeccable street style.

4. Miley Cyrus
Enough said.

Pants: Exclusive Denim

Happy "Cyber Monday!" (is that officially a thing now...?)
It's the day back from Thanksgiving and despite the stereotypical Black Friday madness,
it seems that nobody really got any new items. Granted, the tradition has faded a bit and is
less intense than a few years ago, but that "after holiday" buzz that was just lacking.
Anyways, as you can see I didn't wear any of my new clothes, but wtvr.
The middle picture is taken by my friend Laura because self timer is such a struggle.

Indie dreams

Nasty Gal cropped top
Urban Outfitters earrings

Earlier this month I helped out my friend with her photography
project. Oh, I wish the weather was like this again, so I could wear
crop-top-esque outfits without dying of cold!
