Movie Inspiration: This is England (2006)

This is England is a British drama film written and directed by Shane Meadows. It explores the skinhead culture in England in the early 1980s. This film follows  Shaun, a young English boy, as he becomes askinhead, but soon finds himself further involved in a racist, nationalist subculture. The script is amazingly terse and extremely beautiful. This film was so successful that it later became the first in a This is England trilogy; the remaining two films are still not officially released in the US.

I, personally, am just completely inspired by the "costume" design. The skinhead attire is a 60s mod, almost preppy, style with obvious punk and hardcore influences. Almost immediately after watching this film, I started online shopping for plaid buttonups... as if my previous obsession with them wasn't good enough. I even noticed that Topshop had a "This is England" clothing section. I further approve of This is England's affiliation with Dr. Martens (if you don't know already, I am obsessed with everything and anything related to Dr. Martens). Basically, this film has proven that plaid button ups, quality denim, and good boots are all a girl needs. Maybe the occasional bomber jacket.

My last movie inspiration was Singles (1992)
